Watermeal

Watermeal

What Watermeal Looks Like:

Watermeal is a very tiny (less than 1 millimeter) light green free-floating, rootless plant. In fact, watermeals are the smallest seed-bearing plants in the world,. Watermeal tend to grow in dense colonies in quiet water, undisturbed by wave action. Often watermeal will be associated with colonies of duckweeds. Watermeal can be an aggressive invader of ponds and are often found mixed in with duckweeds or mosquito fern. If colonies cover the surface of the water, then oxygen depletions and fish kills can occur. These plants should be controlled before they cover the entire surface of the pond.

How to Treat Watermeal:

Sonar Liquid A.S.

Mix the following in a tank sprayer:
This solution treats 1/4 surface acre
-8 oz Sonar
-Fill the rest of the tank sprayer with water

How to Apply: Mix according to directions into a sprayer. Place the nozzle of the sprayer underneath the water surface. Disperse the product in ten different spots in a 1/4 acre pond.

Please Note: It is important to use Nature's Blue Pond Dye with the Sonar application. This not only will let you know how well the sonar is staying in the pond, but it will also shade the sonar from being broken down by the sunlight.
