When To Use

Many factors in a pond or aquarium affect the water's pH, such as fish waste, excess fish food and decaying plant material. When determining whether or not to increase or decrease pond water pH, always track the water's pH over several days (at least 5 days), by measuring the pH at about 6:00 am, noon and 6:00 pm. Failure to determine the natural fluctuations in your pond's pH may result in an unnecessary and possibly dangerous altering of the pH. The pH readings of most ponds fluctuate widely, and naturally, during a 24 hour period. Attempting to alter this natural daily fluctuation may be harmful to the aquatic life. Keep written records of all pH readings and the time of day each was taken; be sure to use reliable (preferably dry reagent) pH test kits. An acceptable pH reading for a pond is 6.5 - 8.0.

How To Apply

pH Drop™ - To decrease the pH of pond water no more than 0.2 points per application, apply 1 ounce (1 scoop) per 1,000 gallons every 3 days until pH levels come into a safe range. Once pH has been brought to a safe level, use The Pond Guy® pH Buffer™ to stabilize your pond preventing future pH swings.

pH Buffer™ -pH Buffer™ helps keep water quality problems from arising in the hot summer months and prevent wide pH swings, making pond water safe for fish and plants. Apply 1 ounce (1 scoop) pH Buffer™ per 250 gallons of pond water once a week and after each water change to stabilize pond water pH and maintain buffering capacity at safe levels.

When used in accordance with label directions The Pond Guy® pH Stabilizers are completely safe for fish, plants, pets and pond wildlife.
