"Pond O Matic XL"A. Rodenkirch of Oak Creek, WI

We ordered our Pond O Matic XL early last spring and used it to open our pond this past spring. The different nozzles really got in and got the debris out. I gave it a 4 out of 5 until I use it this fall but I know it will probably deserves a 5 because it's everything they said it was going to be. It is easy to use, you can put the drain hose in your flower bed and use pond water and if there's fish in there it's good for the plants. There is also a Net to catch larger debris. This was one pond purchase that was well worth the money. A. Rodenkirch

I just love this vacuum for my fish pond. It's the perfect size for me to use and so easy to change out the different nozzles - the crevice tool is my favorite. What a time saver. By far the best money I have spent for cleaning my water garden. Those messy fish!

great buy. Works even better than described. Should have purchased sooner. Great suction. Auto on and off works great. Strainer bag attached to return hose catches slug from not going back into pond. Using on 1500 gallon (liner) pond with rocks in bottom.

"Poor Suction"Dan Iwanicki of Higganum, CT

We had hoped it would help clean the bottom of a small, shallow 2.5 ft., pond, but quickly became disgusted with the effort. It was so disappointing to realize this unit had little suction power. Although it would gather some debris, much of the floating particles simply floated by the intake hose, and if the scrub brush was used the debris simply floated away and stirred up the whole pond. When it was left in one place on the bottom to gather up muck it would gather some of the small stones and then would clog the hose. The inner filter quicly became clogged with muck and probably contributed to the loss of suction, and was difficult to clean after three or four fill ups. The discharge hose is too short unless you just want to dump the water on the lawn and you need to have it on a lower elevation then the unit to drain fully. This shortness of the hose also reduced our flexability as to where we could set up the unit in our landscaped pond. We need to recycle the water back into the pond and had to devise our own strainer basket - the strainer bag enclosed is useless after two fill ups. The only good thing is the auto shut-off and drain feature. We tried for three days using various techniques but had very poor results as we still view the islands of muck on the bottom. Save your money for something else. ****Response from The Pond Guy- Hi Dan, I'm sorry to hear that this product did not work to your expectations. We do offer a satisfaction guarantee on our products. First day of use, quit working. Good thing it has a multi-year warranty. we'll see how that works. Hope company can speak English. Doesn't suck continuously, sucks then "rests", then sucks.. When it was working and was suckin, it was working pretty good. You could see the junk from the bottom being sucked up in slugs..

"Good value "Elaine of Huntsville, AL

I was hesitant to buy a pond vac after reading some of the reviews because we have a lot of small rocks on the bottom of our 1200 gal pond. But with the right attachment I have been pleased so far with the performance of the XL in cleaning the particulate muck from the bottom. It is a little frustrating that it shuts down so often, but I guess I will get used to it. I am going to adjust some things with more experience and maybe will devise another method to keep it running with one of the larger attachments to get the job done faster. It has great suction, even using all the hoses at once. I'd just like to keep the process going. It is very portable, lightweight, and easy to clean.

I've had my vacuum for about two months and very pleased with the results. The discharge hose is too short for my situation. I purchased a flex-drain hose from Lowe's and it works just fine. The hose expands from 6 to 25 feet. At this time I can see this vacuum saving me some maintenance time.

We used to use a water powered vac that took a long time to use and had very poor suction in getting up sludge. After getting the Pond-O-Matic it was like a new world. We cleaned out the pond with very little scrubbing. It takes a lot of the work out of cleaning our pond. MJ

I have had this product for 3-4yrs, and have had the same problems. Works great 1st time, shuts down and restarts once. The next shut down time, the durations get much longer, and finally you can't keep the thing running. It appears the motor gets too hot and then takes 15-20mins to restart. I have had contact with the company, but results were the same.

While my pond is not very deep, I was still pleased with the suction power and overall functionality of this unit. It does cycle frequently between suction and waste, but that is to be expected given its size. Follow the recommendations for use and it works as advertised.

This really works with good suction. Three points to consider. 1) The drain hose is too short; I had some extra black drain hose that I inserted the outlet hose into it. 2) Wish it would suck and discharge at the same time. 3) When it shut down after 2 minutes the first time it scared the hell out of me. Then I realized that it fills the tank and triggers a float the rises to activate an internal switch to shut off the suction. Once the suction in the tank is relased it drains. On-off-on-off about every 2 minutes. Just they way it is desgned.

The product works well, however the operating instructions aren't very explicit. Have to understand that vac will work until container is full, then shuts down to empty, if you can live with that it is a very good tool. Does not like leaves or twigs. But for straight muck is excellent.
