Pond Weed Defense is a rapid-acting contact herbicide designed to work on many species of aquatic vegetation - works best on mature aquatic weeds. Treated aquatic weeds will generally drop below the surface in as little as 4 - 7 days. In heavily infested areas a second application may be necessary in 10 - 12 weeks. Use in combination with Algae Defense for faster results and algae control.

Purchase PondWeed Defense with Cide-Kick for better results!

Cide-Kick increases the wetting, spreading, sticking and dispersing of the chemical. Cide-Kick helps break down the waxy cuticle on the leaf surface and helps penetrate the bud and bark area (of woody brush), allowing a more effective uptake of the herbicide. Cide-Kick is a by-product of the citrus industry, a low viscosity oil and is compatible with most aquatic herbicides and algaecides. Simply mix 2 ounces of Cide-Kick for every gallon of mix (both water and chemical) you are using.

  • To effectively treat weeds and algae, two things must happen:
  • 1st - The water tension has to be broken down to allow the chemical to penetrate the water in the appropriate spot.
  • 2nd - The cuticle of the weed has to be penetrated for the chemical to be absorbed.

  • Application of PondWeed Defense:
If your pond is not equipped with an aeration system, treat your pond in thirds, waiting 10 - 12 days between treatments to insure safe oxygen levels. Mix 1 gallon Pond Weed Defense with at least 2 gallons of tap water and spray directly on the pond's surface where weeds are present. 1.5 gallon treats 5,000 sq. ft. For the proper application of chemicals, we recommend the use of a Tank Sprayer.
Please remember to follow all label instructions.

    Application of Cide-Kick:
Mix 2 ounces of Cide-Kick for every gallon of chemical mixture you are using.
Please remember to follow all label instructions.

    Restrictions of PondWeed Defense:

    Did not work for me

After applying according to the directions; I still had the same problem that I called about. I know that you guys told me that this was what I needed for my problem, but it did not fix my pond. About a month later I received several days of rain and that cleared up my problem. ***Response from The Pond Guy..if the problem was resolved by breaking up in the rain it is possible the "weed" may have been algae or something other then a standard pond weed. If this problem arises again if possible send in a sample of the weed for evalutaion.
