The magflo gives me the ability to run my waterfall to keep my pond looking great. It also gives me a nice fountain, which makes my wife happy! Great product with options!

I am very pleased so far with the MagFlo pump I purchased. I like that it sits up off the ground and does not clog up or have to cleaned out nearly as often as my old pump did. It is hooked up to a ceramic fish. That fish never spouted so far before! I would definitely recommend it to anyone with a small to medium fish pond.

Threaded attachments would be better

The pump works well and sends a nice spray up, but the nozzles come off over time. The nozzles, and the extensions for that matter, would work much better if they were threaded and not slip fastners.

Very Surprised!!

Very pleased with my new MAGFLO pump. What impressed me the most is the amount of attachments included!! 3 different fountain heads, a flow control, another attachment for a spitter and a barbed fitting for the intake. The barbed fitting will accept a 1/2 inch garden hose, which is great as I have it hooked up to a much larger bio-filter. Pump looks to be very well made and the attachments are of the same quality, none of that brittle thin plastic stuff you normally see on products of this price range!!
Owner Response:Thanks for the great, in-depth review Don!

A reliable pump

I purchased a MagFlo 590 pump to replace a Fish Mate 500 pump that failed after 2 months use, and I have been pleased with it's performance. In the warmer months I use it primarily to push water through a 10 year old Hozelock UVC filter that recommends a 500gph flow, and to trickle down a flat rock for a mini-waterfall. The pump handles this with ease. In the winter, The UVC filter is removed and the pump is used to 'gurgle' the surface to maintain a small patch of unfrozen, open water, even at outside temperatures well below freezing. Again, the pump works great. The flow adjuster is an asset to provide just the right amount of discharge from the pump. This pump runs 24/7/365, and I've had no issues in 3 years...EXCEPT for the plastic piece above the pump that distributes the outflow, called the diverter connection. It keeps cracking when I pressure connect the hose to the diverter. For this reason, I downgraded the pump to 4 stars. Also, to get a new diverter connection you have to purchase an entire fountain kit. So, I pay for an assortment of fountain heads, none of which I use. They get tossed in the recycle bin.
