Parrots Feather is a member of the water-milfoil family, and is a herbaceous aquatic perennial that gets its name from the feather-like appearance of its blue-green leaves. Parrots Feather may be used as a submerged or floating pond plant. It has feathery blue-green foliage and its stems can grow from 24 to 48 inches long. Parrots Feather has lush green texture that assists in shading the pond and also provides a hiding place plus spawning material for koi and goldfish. Because of its capability of establishing itself in wet soil above the water, Parrots Feather can be used in waterfall and streams, as well as along pond edges. Sold in bunches of 5.

Mail Order: What To Expect
Plants you receive by mail need time to adjust. Parrots Feather will arrive as in Bunches of 5 (several stems or groupings of plants). Upon arrival, they may not appear lush but given time & proper care, they will flourish!
Simply place in water and plant will float freely. Parrots Feather may also be potted and submerged in your pond.
Fertilization is typically not needed for Parrots Feather as they take excess nutrients from your pond water. If needed, Microbe-Lift® Bloom & Grow™ can be used.
For best results, trim or prune as leaves begin to turn yellow or brown, remove them completely, discarding them to keep as much excess organic material out of water-body as possible.
In Zones 5 and lower, discard Red Stemmed Parrots Feather after the first hard frost.
Due to the quick growth of Parrots Feather, it is considered invasive in several states. Never release these plants in public lakes or waterways in any state.
The first step towards effectively treating any pond weed is proper identification. Parrots Feather is recommended for use against each of the weeds listed below. Click on your desired weed for more information and alternate control options.
