The Pond Guy Scholarship

The Pond Guy is proud to help support the next wave of entrepreneurs and biologists through this scholarship. Offered bi-annually, a $1,500 grant will be awarded to qualified students in accredited entrepreneurship or biology programs.

The scholarship will be awarded twice each year, in the Fall and Spring.

Who can apply?

Future or current entrepreneurship or biology students are eligible to apply. This includes:

  • High school seniors intending to pursue a degree in entrepreneurship or biology.
  • All students currently enrolled in an entrepreneurship or biology program at an accredited college or university in the U.S.

The Essay:

Help us get to know you! Submit an essay (roughly 500 words) explaining why you have a passion for this field. What do you hope to accomplish once you graduate, and how will you make a difference in your community?

The Application:

The Pond Guy will award a $1,500 scholarship once per semester to a qualified student. Please submit your application for the Fall semester no later than June 1, 2023 or for the Spring semester no later than November 1, 2023. The winning student for the Fall semester award will be alerted on June 30, 2023, and the winning student for the Spring semester award will be notified on November 30, 2023. Payment will be made out to the winner's college or university to help support expenses for the 2023-24 academic year. Anna received her undergrad in Plant and Soil Systems from LSU in 2016. She will be pursuing her master's degree in 2021 with a focus on public perception of aquatic and horticulture invasive species. She is a social media strategist for the LSU Agricultural Center creating content for the public to connect to agriculture. Her goal is to influence public policy and make information readily available.

I am a freshman at the University of Texas at San Antonio, majoring in Biology. I have always had a strong interest in science and a passion for animals. After completing my degree, I plan to advance my education by studying veterinary medicine. I have aspirations of becoming a Veterinarian specializing in small or exotic animals.

A committee of The Pond Guy employees will review each submission and select one winner. All communications and submissions become the property of The Pond Guy, which may publish on its site and other marketing materials the name and image of the winner, as well as the name of his or her chosen educational institution and the winning essay in full or in part.

Beyond that, we will protect your information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By submitting an application, you give The Pond Guy the right to contact your educational institution to confirm enrollment, registration, or acceptance if you are chosen as the winner. You also agree to receive communications from The Pond Guy regarding your application and the selection process.

No purchase is necessary to participate, and the process is not open to those who live in an area where it may be prohibited. Only one application per student. The scholarship is not available to current or former employees of The Pond Guy or their relatives. Any applicable taxes are solely the responsibility of the recipient. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered for the coming academic year.
