A: After cutting or killing pond weeds, you must remove the debris before those pesky plants reproduce through fragmentation or decay into muck and murk. In a nutshell, you can start by dragging in large chunks of vegetation with a pond rake. Follow this up by pulling a debris skimmer through the water to eliminate any leftovers. Finally, ensure your weed prevention strategy is on point to reduce overall growth.

Lake Weed Removal
Before you drag weeds out of your pond or lake, you’ll benefit from ensuring they are as eliminated as possible. Whether you used aquatic herbicides or a trimmer, equip yourself with the Jenlis Weed Razer to shear stalks and stems off right at the root to slow nuisance plant regrowth.
Once all the foliage is free and floating, choose from a specialty selection of pond rakes that can float or sink depending on which weeds you are after. We recommend the Razer Rake for both submerged vegetation, loose roots, and debris floating on the surface. Remove as much large debris as possible with the rakes so skimming will be easier and more effective.
Next, switch to a floating skimmer for smaller particles you cannot snag with the rakes’ tines. This step is crucial to prevent poor water quality due to decay and rapid regrowth from fragmentation and residual seeds.
Lake Weed Prevention
After your lakefront is clean and clear, you can take simple steps to keep it that way. Most importantly, a diffused lake aeration system provides ample circulation and oxygenation throughout the entire water column. This movement may slow the growth of some weeds and algae while the added oxygen supports beneficial bacteria that maintain clarity.
The helpful bacteria found in Airmax ClearPAC Plus pond cleaning products MuckAway and PondClear consume the same nutrients that aquatic weeds need to flourish. They also digest debris that causes cloudy or murky water and muck accumulation. EcoBoost PRx pond flocculant pulls excess nutrients and suspended debris out of the water to reduce turbidity. Finally, the included pond dye will shade the water, further inhibiting submerged weed growth.
